Using the New Newspaper Issue Menu

We have a new method for browsing issues of a particular newspaper. Instead of the calendar display you can now use the Newspaper Issues drop-down menus.

To use the new Newspaper Issues menu:

  • Click 'Browse' from the main menu at the top of the page and select the paper you want to look at.

  • This will bring you to the page for that newspaper, which contains the Newspaper Issues menu and an About button if you want to learn more about the newspaper.

The examples below are all from The Guardian's Newspaper page

  • Find the Year your are interested in from the list OR type the year you're interested in into the 'Filter by Date' box on the right side of the page

  • Click on the Year box to reveal the Months, click the Month you are interested in to reveal the Dates.
Tip: you can click 'Expand All Months' to show all the Dates at once if you want to see all the dates we have for that year. Click 'Collapse All Months' to close them all)

  • Click the Date you want to look at, and it will take you to the page where you can read the digitized copy.

See the Reading and Searching a Newspaper Issue or Page Guide for more tips and tricks.

  • You can also use the Filter by Date option to pull up specific Year-Month and Year-Month-Date as well.
Dates need to be input using the YYYY-MM-DD format ex: 1990-05-30
