Abstract

The Eastern Advocate: or King's County Gazette began publishing in Georgetown in 1870. It printed short news articles, fiction, poetry, and advertisements. Improved mail service and the building of the railroad were the two main causes of the Eastern Advocate , although the latter led to the paper's demise, as the people of Georgetown did not support the railroad. It is unknown when this paper ceased publication, but it must have been after February of 1872, because there was a reference to it in the Patriot of March 28, 1872.
