Sm, In reply to your communication of this date, respecting the Public Lands of this Colony, we beg to say, that the Statement of the Revenue and Expenditure of the Colony of Prince Edward Island, furnished to you on the 5th June, instant, by us, and being from the 31st January, 1857, to the 31st January, 1867, exhibiting the debt of the Colony on the 31st January, 1867, as being £89,028 11s. 9d. British Sterling, embraces all sums of money expended by the Government in the purchase of Lands up to the latter date ; and, also, includes all sums of money actually received from time to time at the Provin— cial Treasury, on account of Sales of Lands up to that period of time. ' And, therefore, we submit, that all the Public Lands yet unsold, and all the balances still unpaid on Sales of Public Lands, are remaining assets of the Colony against the debt of the Colony on the 31st January, 1867, as stated in our Report of the 5th June, instant. \Ve hate the honor to be, Your obedient Servants, THOS.
