     In reply to your communication of this date, respecting 
     
     the Public Lands of this Colony, we beg to say, that the 
     
     Statement of the Revenue and Expenditure of the Colony 
     
     of Prince Edward Island, furnished to you on the 5th 
     
     June, instant, by us, and being from the 31st January, 
     
     1857, to the 31st January, 1867, exhibiting the debt of 
     
     the Colony on the 31st January, 1867, as being 
     
     £89,028 11s. 9d. British Sterling, embraces all sums of 
     
     money expended by the Government in the purchase of 
     
     Lands up to the latter date ; and, also, includes all sums of 
     
     money actually received from time to time at the Provin— 
     
     cial Treasury, on account of Sales of Lands up to that 
     
     period of time. ' 
     
    
   
   
    
     And, therefore, we submit, that all the Public Lands 
     
     yet unsold, and all the balances still unpaid on Sales of 
     
     Public Lands, are remaining assets of the Colony against 
     
     the debt of the Colony on the 31st January, 1867, as 
     
     stated in our Report of the 5th June, instant.

     The Revenue received during the Financial year ended 31st. lanuary, 
     
     1867. auteunts to $.L95A-l'3 175. 1d. The lflxpenditnre during the same 
     
     period was 136151815 149. 8d, thereby showing an excess of eXpCItdituro 
     
     over ILCVCHUC of £433,902 178. '7d which, added to the balance standing 
     
     against the Colony on the 31st. Janulry, 1865, shews a dgbt due 0? 
     
     £133,542 17s. 8d. 
     
    

    
     In this amount is included the sum of 1.882344 paid by the Government 
     
     for 220,469 acres of Land purchased during the past year, from the silos 
     
     of which land there is included in the Revenue the sum of £10,742 llls. 7d. 
     
    

    
     The above balance also includes all Treasury Notes, Warrants and De- 
     
     bentures, issued up to that date, as will more fully appear by a referencc 
     
     to the annexed tabular statement marked (A.) In l/zis starcmcntnm

     The Revenue for the past year shews an increase War that of the pre- 
     
     vi )us one of £227,401 13s. 2d. 
     
    

    
     The usual tables have been prepared by your Committee, and are up- 
     
     pended- (A) to (E) inclusive, and contain particulars or the revenue and 
     
     (‘Xpenditure of past years, and Other information. 
     
    

    
     The receipts for and on account of Public and Crown Lands during the 
     
     year, amount to £16,148 lUs. 6d. The expenses during the same period, 
     
     including estimated loss of Land tax and interest, amount to £5862 5:3. 
     
     3d, shewing a surplus of £l0,286 53. 3d. over and above expenses.
