The sunshine Dairy. defened the ;Bowery Bombers by the score of 16-! while the Legion defeated the Canada. Packers 12-11 and the Guardian Angels were awarded two points when the B.Y.C. failed to field I team. In the Dairy-Bombers game Ced Ballem was the winning pitcher for me Dairy while Hughes receiv- ed credit for the defeat. He was relieved by Mccallum in the 3rd inning. The extra base hits were picked up by Jackson and Crockett of the Dairy and Bradley of the Bombers each with triples. Chev- eirie. Crockett and Jackson of Dairy all had three hits in five trips to the plate. Amateur and Open Golf Championships by defeating runner-up Bob Gray by a. single stroke after 73 holes of gruelling tournament play. The 30-year-old Macxenzie. who was once a caddie at the Belve- dere Golf Course. sank a 20-foot putt on the 73 rd. hole for a birdie three to win the coveted cham- pionship. Gray had a par four on the hole. The two Charlottetovm club members finished the regulation 72 holes of tournament play with identical scores of 298. MacKenzie fired 9. par 72 on his last round yvhile Gray had a one-over 73. They drove off on the 73rd hole with darkness approacliliig. Both were on the green in two strokes and both about 20 feet from the pin. Macxenzie sank his putt neatly while Gray missed the edge of the cup by a fraction of an inch.
