December 20th. 1916. in accordance with a proclamation by His Honour, the Lieutenant-Goven -nor, s public meeting was held at Charlottetown, on the 10th. inst., to take action in response to an appeal made to the Empire at large, by Lord' Lansdowne. President of the Britishi Red Cross, for a collection in aid of the Society’s funds similar- to that -ta- ken up last year on Trafalgar Day. This appeal has the support of the Dominion Government and the Cana- dian Rell Cross, and, in order that all classes may be given an opportunity to respond, and make up a creditable return, a committee was appointed to further the success of a general meet- ing of ladies and gentlemen to provide ways ami means for oc-llecting for this purpose throughout the province. The proposed meeting will be held on Friday, Dec. 28th at 8 p. m., in the Provincial Building at Charlottetown.
