ATNALD, MERONAIYR RANK OF AALIFAX of the prizes at the Convent Notre Dame, took place on Thursday last. sewing, koitting, painting, and drawing done by the pupils during the year, were ‘on exhibition. The neediework here ‘exhibited was of the finest kind, aud the |painting and drawing showed on the part of teacher avd pupils, artistic talent ‘of the rarest order. Indeed we have |seldom seen at any place such ‘an array of useful and ornamental jneedlework and paintings, and drawings ‘the most beautiful. There is one very rare accomplishment which the pupils of the Convent possess in the highest degree. The schools of Charlottetown are to be congratulated for igreat politeness on the part of the pupils, but no where is this remarkable and dis- tioguishable feature so observable as at the Convent. His Lordship the Bishop. many of the clergy, and several ladies and geatlemen were present. The programme was most interesting. ‘The vocal and instrumental music was, as it always is at the Con- vent, the very best, and showed what care and attention the Sisters give to the development of any musical aptitude that comes under their instruction. In an address read by one of the young ladies, a tender and feeling allusion was made to His Lordship’s Silver Jubilee. At the covelusion of the distribution His Lordship addressed the young ladies in ueat, kind and fatherly language, evincing the interest he always took in education, and the desire he always entertained for the development of all that was noble and good in the young.
