On Sunday the Panthers exploded for four third pe- riod goals to break open a close 5-4 game en route to a 9-4 thumping of the St. Mary’s Huskies. Randy Muttart exploded to score four goals, and three of the Panthers’ four third period goals. Muttart was awarded the Panthers Player of the Game award. With the two victories on the weekend the Pan- widened their lead over Moncton to nine points, however Moncton has three games in hand over the Pan- thers. The Panthers sport a 10-2-1 record for 21 points and have the best record in the Atlantic Region. Lady Panthers romp take two from Cape Breton By Darrell Cole, Sports Editor The UPEI Lady Pan- thers basketball team was in Sydney, Nova Scotia last weekend for a pair of games against the University of Cape Breton Capers. On Saturday Tracey Bowie net- ted fourteen points to lead the Panthers to a 77-26 vic- tory over the Capers. Other Panther scorers were Ria Bahadurs- ingh and Janet Nichols with eleven, Tracey MacEachern with 10, Dawna Townsend with 8, Nadine Enman with 8, Stephanie Knickle with 6, Susan Knickle with 4, Kellie ‘ Shea with 3, and Toby Jones with 2. On Sunday the Lady Panthers again romped over the Capers with a 79-27 vic- tory. Nadine Enman lead the Panthers on Sunday with twelve points, while Susan Knickle added 11. Other scorers were Stephanie Knickle and Susan Smith with 10 each.
