Consider I:IIiIl Council. Library for Summerside The National Film Board office at Charlottetown has extended a very generous offer to clubs and organizations in Summerside,' to- wards the establishing of a film council and a film lending library for Summcrside. Previously there has been no such organization in Summerside, although many rural communities in the area have taken advantage of the free films and service available from this department. Mr. John Martin from the Film Board office in Charlottcmwxi is spending a few days in Summer- side contacting the various clubs and organizations who have ex- pressed a desire for the establish- ment of a film council here. The National Film Board is a government department which produces or otherwise makes avail- able free to any club, group, or or- ganization. films of an entertain- ing-educational nature. More than 1200 such films are available in the Charlottetown library alone, and these are con .si:antly being changed and addrrt. to v Mr. Martin said yesterday that the people ofythis Province are getting a far better film service than any other province in rela- tion to population, and his office is anxious to have the maxium use made of these free films. If the Summerside people in- dicate sufficient interest, it is the intention of the National Film Board to establish a branch lend- ing library in Summersicle with a large number of films being avail- able at the Summerside branch of- fice at all times; and if sufficient interest is indicated they will also lend to the Summerside area one or two sets of equipment to facili- tate the setting up of the coun- cil. Mr. Martin stated yesterday that any club, group, or organiza- tion interested in becoming a member of this film council should Contact him at the National Film Board office in Charlotietoivn. He said it is planned to hold a mass meeting in November at which representatives from each interested organization will be in attendance and at which time the executive of the proposed council 020.00 and costs and a resident of Tig-nish was fined 35.00 and costs or iui days for as- sault, ncrs Pond Decide Prince County Fiddling, Dancing Titles KGB To the rippling tunes of lively old- time music, Prince County cham- pionships were decided in old-time fiddling, step-dancing. and square- danclng contests held last evening in the auditorium of the Summer- side High school. and sponsored by the Summerside Y's Men's Club.
