We do not recall that the sun has ever shone as brightly over MacAdam Field as it did on Satur- day afternoonas the , Panthers ended a season of gloan and frustration by demolishing a hapless Mount Allison squad by a resounding 49—0 win. rmis was a team that had beaten us 13—6‘ earlier I “ in the season in some mysterious fashion. Actually this game wasn't even as close as the 49 point margin might in- dicate, inasmuch as _ penalties cancelled out ‘ at least three more Panther touchdams. It seened as though our heroes, after taking knocks all season from an unkind fate, got (or made) in this game, all the breaks that might be ex- pected to be distributed over a season. Fran the opening kickoff all the soup was duck for the Panthers. Rick Kiraly,_ displaying the emertise that we are all aware he is capable of attaining, was a~whirling dervish all afternoon. This was a game it was rumored he might miss because of' an injured shoulder but, slithering and slipping. over the damp ground, he evaded and dodged tacklers and scored no less than four touch- downs, all on running plays. John John Paul Paul MacIntyre MacIntyre scored three, the first on a 72 yard run, the second on a blocked . punt and the third by blasting in from the 2 yard line. Great was the Enthusiasm in the stands when, in the second , it was announced that he had already gone over the 100 mard yark. We did get out of the cellar by a technicality (outscoring Mt. A. with the sane 1-6 record) but- who ever heard of a 1—6 team with a 143—139 scoring statistic? It could only happen at U.P.E.I. While we say "Wait till next year" we must ccnment that Mike Lyriotolkis, Larry Currie, Mike Jones and Blaine MacPherson will certainly be missed and we wish them good fortuneas they leave us by graduation. We congratulate aslo the sane Lyriotolkis, as well as Vernon Paul, Socky MacDonald and John Paul MacIntyre who, deservedly, were named members of the \ r All—Conference team. While congrats of the nature are being passed around, we are also pleased to .report that Joanne mclean of the Lady Panthers was also picked as an All—star in the Atlantic Conference Field Hockey team.
