The Search for the Green By: Laurie Murphy Financial Aid Advisor Free Money Apply By Feb. 17th UPEI Awards ($125 — 300) Bernardine Hall Residence Bursary ($500) Part-time Student Bursary ($125) Hello again. This week I’m highlighting the above awards. Pick up your application from the Registrar’s Office or from the Department of Student Ser- vices. When you’ve completed it drop your application off to the Registrar’s Office. A Schol- arship and Bursary Committee will go through the applications and award the successful stu- dents. You will not wait long for your money because the Commit- tee usually decides and awards within the same month. Do look into these awards and then of course Apply! For our UPEI population one might ex- pect that three or four hundred of us would apply for these, but in truth the number falls well below this. Your chances then are very good, and I wish you well. Re- member, the search for the green begins with you. 8—ball Tournaments Labatt’s and the Panther Lounge present weekly 8—ball tournaments on Tuesdays. The biology club, repre- senting Mr. Malice E. Olaye of Nigeria, would like to take this opportunity to ask you for your help. A fire recently destroyed the town of Obiaruku’s library and Mr. Olaye and his teaching col- leagues are in desperate need for educational material. You can help by donating any educational books that you have available and no longer need. (eg. an old edition that you can’t sell) Mr. Olaye contacted us about this tragedy, because he heard from many Nigerians who attended Canadian Universities that Cana- dians are very generous and car- ing people. Let’s not disappoint Mr. Olaye and the people of Obiaruku; let’s prove to them that we are the generous people that they percieve us to be. Lend a hand and donate a book! Below is a list of places where donated books can be dropped off: Student Union desk in pit. SU Barn, and Biology Club.
