The $19.00 a month pro- vides the family with a monthly cash grant or ma— terial benefits; free me— ‘ dical and dental care, free prescriptions, the sustain— ed guidance and counselling of social wdrkers and the benefits of many special programs. All Foster They have "adopt-— Adopts .Foster Child Children and their brothers and sisters, age permit— ting, are encouraged to attend school. “Where suit- able, vocational training courses are made available free of charge, for Foster Children, their brothers and sisters, and where pra- ctical, their parents. The objective is to provide the family with the tools to help them becOme independ4 ent and self-supporting. All programs are adapted to the needs of each country and laterly tend to be concentrated in rural areas, where the whole community can benefit, partiCularly through mass inoculations, etc. Foster Parents and Foster Children corres-' pond monthly (letters are~ / translated by PLAN) and often develop warm and affectionate relationships ‘ which mean as much to the child as the material and financial aid. .
