     Rumor has it that the Comm— 
     
     ittee on Objectives report is 
     
     taking on strong overtones 
     
     of faculty and administration 
     
     wants and ideas. In other 
     
     words, the establishment are 
     
     going to get what they want 
     
     and they are probably going 
     
     to forget (again) that students 
     
     also make up part of the Un- 
     
     iversity. I guess we're going 
     
     to get shafted again unless 
     
     we get some ideas together in 
     
     a concrete form and demand that 
     
     we get some recognition in 
     
     the report. 
     
    

    
     I obtained this information 
     
     from Barb Stevenson, the only 
     
     student on the Committee. It 
     
     seems that the bureaucrats and 
     
     the academics are really plan- 
     
     ning to make hay for themselves 
     
     using the Committee's report

     Council at their last meeting 
     
     they decided to form a Student 
     
     Committee-on Objectives to 
     
    

    
     get the student's View points 
     
     and ideas, a report separate 
     
     from the Senate's Committee. 
     
     Cathy MacNeill (Arts) and 
     
     Gerald MacDonald (Education) 
     
     are co-chairpersons of this 
     
     committee and along with the 
     
     other members of Student Comm- 
     
     ittee, they are going to be 
     
     holding open forums, seminars, 
     
     questionaires etc. to try and 
     
     find out what STUDENTS want 
     
     from a university and how the 
     
     university could fulfill the 
     
     needs of students. The first 
     
     public forum is planned for 
     
     this Thursday in the Panther 
     
     Lounge around l:00p.m. Since 
     
     this is the opening of Fall—

     As I said before, we're 
     
     going to get shafted again 
     
     if we don't speak out as a 
     
     united body. We all know that 
     
     the University is far from 
     
     perfect for the average stu— 
     
     dent and really needs to be 
     
     cleaned up. Now we have our 
     
     chance to not let the estab- 
     
     lishment have all their own 
     
     way on this campus. of course, 
     
     student needs are not the 
     
     only thing that the univer- 
     
     sity must become sensitive to, 
     
     but there's a whole province 
     
     out there that is supporting 
     
     this university and getting 
     
     nothing in return. The univer-
