FOBTIETII WEDDING ANNI- VERSARIL-The hccne of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Coles was the scene of a happy gathering on Thursday ev- ening, January 6th, when a surprise party was tendered to Russell's par- ents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest 1". Coles. the occasion being their fortieth wedding anniversary. The guests. numbering about fifty, were their family, brothers, sisters. nieces and nephews. It is happy to note that ‘both the bridesmaid and grocmsman of forty years ago were present. namely Miss Winnie Coles and Mr. Topper Ferguson. During t-he course of the evening their little grand- daughters, Misses Myrna and Enid Coles presented them each with a gift on behalf of their family, after which George MacKenzle and Rod- uey Coles also presented them with a gift and money on behalf of the othcrs to mark the occasion. At ten o'clock Saturday morn- ing two Lancaster atrcraft, the Zenith and the Polaris roared down the runway at the Summer- side R.C.A.F. station, soared aloft and headed into the distance with Bolling Field, Washington. This flight, which will ultim- ately take them as far as Calli- ornia, is first of all a navigation exercise and secondly will {We them a. chance to visit US. air bases which specialize in naviga- tion work.
