Editorial 7' That long slow ice cream cone of summer has been licked away for another year and now we face the un— certainties of fall weather and certainty of approach- Another inevitable aspect of the future is more economic gloom: no jobs, no money, high costs Well, at least we have the possibility of our very own constitution to look forward, to. What a treat that will be; a collective lift of Cana- dian consciousness (to see us through the troubled times ahead) . ‘ Fall, however, is another current event which is even more relevant to us than the constitution. This unpredictable season is always a welcomed wake— \ ‘up call after that mental hibernation of summer. ‘ FEEDBAG‘ Note to Fresh men Dear Freshmen, The third week of school is almost finished and it is time you met your represent— atives in council. The president of the Freshmen class is myself — Robyn Hume. Vice—president — Gerard MacDonald, Treasurer — Laura Ferris, Secretary - Jamie Doucette. It is unfortunate that we were elected not by enthusiastic and interested students but by acclaimation. We compose close ' » to, if not over, 50% of the student body.' From now on there should be no excuses for unattended pubs, dances, plays or other social events. Sorry to start off like fins but... " '7 IS”! 1; fa I r? Should Jack keep- Callie off the Pahthe'r‘S? This is a‘guestion which is going around the * campus and many people" are argueing about. Many people say “that Jack "The Ripper" Hines is doing the right thing. Well, I for one do not; Why keep asman off a team when what he did last was better for himself? When you are on a team which is going ' absolutely nowhere and“ you are getting nothing from the coach but abuse, what is a man to do‘? We pay tuition to send our best players out to play these sports and Hines for" one is depriving us from this. Callie was told first practise (dry land) that he was not going to make the team. This simply is not fair. I also think that it is a free market so any ’abum. The main objective of the council is to sponsor events in order to raise funds for our Senior year. So you can see why it is important you participate. I will see to it that you are duly informed of any issues or happenings that arise, and will also have suggestion boxes places at various places on campus. It would be to your advantage to» use I them in order to inform us of your concerns. and things you'd like done. You can~do it. I-- ~ Orientation week was a perfect example of your spirit and enthusiiasm. So keep up thegood work and make sure we work for you . Robyn Hume player can go where he pleases. Also Hines and many players who are mad Callie, in the same situation, would do the same. I would like to see what some of them would; say with a few thousanddollars flashing in eyes. . “One last question I would'like to ask the otherplayers, and also Jack Hines, if you I fellows are doing your thing for nothing. The players from away, if they are playing for nothing then they are a) insan or b) stupid. ’ So do not tell me that Callie is no good or Just think of what you would do in that situation and then you will not say the same thing. If you do then you are full of it! Be— cause noone in their right mind would refuse what Callie was offered.
