The letter stated that planned renovations to Main can begin now that the provincial gov- ernment has announced a five- year contribution of $1 million for the project. Plans for Main building have not been final- ized as yet but suggestions put forth under the university fund-raising campaign in- cluded a 25 per cent increase in floor space, a student lounge, and (thankfully) an elevator for the 124-year old former dormatory. Relocation of some of Main’s occupants has already begun with the move of the Student Services office from the Ist floor to the Robertson Library building. Plans call for reno- vations to be completed “in late summer 1988.” Calgary Students Ousted for Olympics CALGARY (CUP) — The bad news for residents of the Uni- versity of Calgary student housing is they will be evicted to make room for.the 1988 Win- ter Olympics. About 900 students must leave their residences in Jan- uary to mid March of 1988 when the residences are trans- formed into the olympic village.
