GRAN THOMPSON.--Many friends all over the Maritime Pro- vinces and in Charlottetown will read with regret the news of the death of C. Oran Thompson, the well known traveller for I-Iewson’s Tex- tiles, Ltd.. Amherst, which occurred in Montreal on Monday evening last, after an illness extending over three or four weeks. The late Mr. Thomp- son was a native of Oxford. He was the son oi N. S. and Mrs. Thomp- son and is survived by his parents, three sisters and three brothers. When about twenty years ol age he went on the road for the Oxford Woollen Company and travelled for that concern lor about ten years. He then associated himself with the Hewson’s Woollen Company of Am- herst. He covered the Maritime Pro- vinces for them up until last August, when he was transferred to Montreal to looli alter the trade of the con- cern in Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto and other towns in Quebec and-Ont-_ nrio. He was a. fine type of robust manhood and the news of his ‘death will be learned not only with regret, but with surprise. It was intimated that he -was suffering from typhoid fever but -it has since been learned that his death was-due to a,malady of the heart.” The remains were tak- en to his old home in Oxford and the funeral was held from the Methodist Church in that town on Friday af- ternoon. Hisibrother Edward Thomp- son ot Boston, and Miss Vive. Thomp- son, a trained nurse, were with him at the Royal Victoria Hospital at the time of his death. Few travellers on the road .were m°re_l;esefa1_lv,.a_“<1_ deservedly esteemed than the late Mr. Thompson.
