It would seem from all the records that this pastorate was very brief as there are several Moderators of Session, but the Century Fund and the collections from the schemes appear to have been made success- ful and a mention is made of the Presbyterian Record which leads us to believe the congregation were at- tentive to their duties even though deprived of the services of a pastor. Mr. McDonald resigned in i902 and we seem to be unable to trace him after that time. On December 1st, 1902, with Rev. A. W. K. Herdmian as Moderator, a cordial and unanimous call was given and closed with the benediction. Such an invpressivo service must have born fruit and these elders are still held in high respect by all who knew them though in tho Providence oi God they have all been since trans- lated to the Church above but though being dead they yet speak. An obi- tuary of each of them may form part oi this sketch for they were men worthy of all such honor. As a i result of the above we find the con- gregation divided into elder’ districts on March 23nd, 1906, and it shows the earnestness and and zeal of the session that no part of the clmol. lonllv-eaparsuow “lITAii KliW-Western Thriller Could Love l/Vlifie GAPITOL 618i? He must have been well equipped and we find him placed as a pru- bationer first in a presbytcry of Truro at a place called North River, West Branch and some associated stations where we are presuming his uATiinlLiOIl to have taken place the same year. Rev Mr. Gray brought to this field the experience gained during a quarter of a century al~ though such experience is often gained only by the expenditure of bodily and other powers and we are not suprised to find a few needed reforms instituted in the field that had suffered much in the absence of a regular pastor. On the day of his induction at the session meeting it was moved and seconded that the Clerk give the Moderator thenames of absent members to communicate with them. Of this vast number only the 200,- 000 factory employees have ever been trained for any industrial occupa- tion—al'ld the disorders caused by the 800,000 Joandits and soldiers have thrown them out of work. How to demobillze the soldiers without creating still more bandits has been discussed by all the gov- ernment officials of North China, but with no success.
