Now see what a Physician of the Rvyal College said of it 20 years ago, Certificate from a Physician 20 yearsago Before the Medical College, Glasgow. I do hereby certify, that-by request of scores of my patients and others, [ have analyzed what is knowe as old Dr. Judson’s Worm Candy Sticks; on analysis, TI find it to contain nothing that is the least injurious to the youngest infant. 1 fied that the Medicine used, acts specifically on the Worms, and is a perfect regulator of the debilitated system — knowing this to be the fact, and the medicine go pleasantly disguised in a candy stick, I strongly re- commend to this Board of Physic‘ans to preseribe Dr. Jud-on’s Dead Shot Worm Candy to all their patients that are troubled with the commun or Tape Worm. Alir A COMMON SENSE VIEW oF THE Mode in which STOMACH BUTTERS ACT UPON THE HUMAN SYSTEM. This is an age of inquiry. People want to know the why and wherefore of all statements submitted to them as facts, and as far us this is concerned, it is propesed to gratify them. All the physicians admit that the greatest diffi- culty they encounter in their practice is in convey- ing to the seat of a disease the medicament thut will counteract and neutralize it. been tried for this parpose, but it is now generally admitted that the electric fluid is too subtle the system anything except itself liquid stimulant, as everybody knows, can be charged with th: essential properties of any and every substance in the Materia Medica, and there is no herbial extract which it will not bold in solution | with all its preventive and carative virtues anim paired, Now, the pure liquid stimalant of which HOSTETTER’S BITTERS. are in part composed, is charged with invaluable veyetable remedies, und these, by reason of its powerful diffusive principle, it conveys to every organ and iutrodaces into the circulation. To use a common expression, it goes to the spot. taking with it just what is wanted there. The essenceof rye would undoubtedly diffuse itself through the or- vanization as swiftly, if administered pure and simple, as if mixed with the juices of tonic and al- terutive roots, barks and herbs. But of whut use would it be without their healing. strengthening, life-sustaining balm? It would merely exc‘te. It could neither protect nor cure. “And herein lies the essential difference between the effect of the purest stimulant, when given alone, and the same stimulant, when administered in the medicinal turm of HOSTETTER’S STOMACH BITTERS. Good Monongahela spirit is doabtless the mildest and most innocuons of all the varieties of liquor, but it only becomes a healthful medicine when im- preghated with the vegetuble elements employed in the preparation of the Bitters. TO DYSPEPTIC SUFFERERS. Under the general head of Dyspepsia may be classed all the varieties of indigestion. Its symp- toms are so various, and differ so much in different individuals, that itis almost impossible to ciassify them. able, It may be safely asserted, however, tbat half of the diseases of maukind spring froma dis- ordered state of the stomach ; and that the orver half, whatever their origin, react upon that sensi- tive and important organ. Among the ordinary in- dications of Dyspepsia or flatulence, a bloated and fall feeling about the stomach and abdomen imine- diately after eating, a gnawing sensation, or a sense of hollowness at the pit of the stomach, be- tween meals, a heavy dull feeling in the head, feeble or unsteady appetite, oecasional nausea, a restless dull feeling during the night, and a weary, unrefreshed feeling on rising in the morn- ing, palpitation of the heart, depression of mind, sometimes amounting to monomania, loss of memory, In fact, some of them are utterly indiscrib- confusion of thoaglt, sour stomach, with rising of food, anda choking sensation in the throat, dinmess of the eye, pain in the diaphraym, fecbleness and disinclivation for exertion, and sometimes emacia- tion and a corpse-like palor These are a few of the direct signs of Dyspepsia, but it is generally complicated with specitic affections of the bowels, the liver, and the nerves; its victime have many additional torments which are technically at- tributed to other causes. The best advice that can be given to any one who has the slightest predisposition to Dys- pepsia, is to fortify his or her digestive organs by ihe daily use of HOSTETTER'’S BITTERS. The disease proceeds from a lack of vigor in the stomach, and this vitalizing preparation will toxe acd renovate that organ. If the gastric apparatus is in goud working order, and can pertectly dissolve and thoroughly assimilate the food submitted to its operation, there will be no dyspepsia. If it eunnot do this, it requires reinforcement, and the best of all reiuforeing ageuts should be forthwith resorted to. | The stomach is the commissary of the svscem, It supplies the elements of life to the whole body. In it is prepared the material of blood, muscle, bene and fibre, and if it fuils to purvey that mate- rial in sufficient quantity, and of a proper kind, the whole body euffers, und with it the mental facul- ties Therefore protect the * Commirsary Depart- went.” Don't let the enemy obtain possession of it. It is easier to prevent disease from vetting inte an Organ than to expel it after it becomes a chronic fixture. Consider the first indication of un- easiness in the stomach asa sign that dyspepsia is preparing to attack, and baftle it at once with thie great repellant, But if it is too late to prevent, remember that it is not too lateto cure. It ig believed that there is no case of chronic indigestion that ean withstand the remedial operation of. HOSTETTER’S STOMACH BITTERS. This belief is grounded on twelve years’ experience of the efficacy of the preparation. The first in- stance of its failure to give relief is yet unchronicled. If it ever had failed, the volaminous correspon- dence addressed to the proprietors from all parts of the United States and South America, would, at least, include one letter expressing dissatisfaction. Buc no, there is not one. The testimony, extending over a period of more than a dezen years, is all of the same approving tenor. Certainly this is a suffi- cient warrant for claiming that the Bitters are a Specific for Indigestion im all its varieties , Prepared and sold by HOSTETTER & SMITH. Prrssurs, Pa.
