ms SUN, Thursday, September i7, 1931, page 55 Intramurals ‘ By: Ty Cobb Men's intramural action opens this week, and if the results are the same as last year the Selects should clean up everything but the kitchen sink. In softball, Marion Hall and Blanchard Hall look just as bad as ever. With- no pitching corps and with a hole in right field the size of the Grand Canyon, thesehteane could not beat the Rocky Point Micmacs. Shane "Errorful" Monaghan will start a new squad made up of Broken Cue attendants and gas attendants. Shane's team missed more fly balls that any other team last year. Speaking of balls, Shane doesn't have any. For fun, the Selects will grand slam the other teams in the league. They have a big abusive left hander' in Scott "Miller Titre" McDonald, and a great releiver in Chris Cross Hennessy. They also have two great ex—BEE's in Gerry "Ty Cobb" Moore and "Big Bubble" Jones. And, of course, let's not leave out myself. Flag football also starts this week. The teams. to watch out for here are the Engineers and Blanchard Hall, but Bernadine could beat both of these teane. Anyway, teams that are good in this sport are only guys who are not man enough to play tackle football. Speaking of tackle .. football, light practises begin this week and practises with gear start next week, with some games on the weekend. , This should be a good season and Selects look the best here also. Other teans will include M&M, and a Blanchard and Marion Hall combo, with talk of having a Colonel Gray franchise. TEXAS INSTRUMENTS INCORPORATED © 1981 Texas Instruments Incorporated The Selects have picked up Gerry Moore, out of Colonel Gray, UPEI, and UNB, is looking for his fourth Rookie of the year award. You see, Moore's high salary has folded three mains already. Commissioner Vince Mulligan said we can - afford the big ogre though. If the Selects do fold this year is will be alias Gerry more's fault. Some other good prospects are Neil Connaughton, Gomer Redmond, and Bill Doucette. Chuckles Smith also looks good as a nose guard on the defense. The only remaining thing to say is that I hOpe to hear the sound of broken bones on ‘ Marion, Blanchard, and Colonel Gray as the » Selects will give them a nice warm welcome to the Intramural Tackle Football league. Freshies daze Uppers ' This year's fall intramural sports had a good start. The first softball game to kick off the season was a surprise with the Freshmen Daze Students . defeating the Dazed Upperclassnen. The game was close with a score of -6-5 until the last inning. The Freshmen cane out of their fog, some even missing their shoes, with eleven powerful hits. This was an act 4 too hard for the Upper+ classmen to follow. The final score was 16-10. \ It looks like the Upperclassmen's "superior intelligence" didn't come through. -— The fall intramural season will also include outdoor soccer and flag football tournaments. It is still undecided as to which which league the Mens Engineers will play. The other men's league doesn't feel that the, Engineers are much competition. (lice the girls got a look at them they decided they were too weak for them, also. Sorry, engineers, you're better off sticking with your own kind. ' ‘ . Hope to see everyone out on the field. It : promises to be a good"
