Adelubi In the dictionary, the. word sin means "to break a religious law or moral principle; to commit an offense or fault of any kind". But is this all that this word really means? Let us scrutinize the meaning of this word and really get the right concept of what it is all about. It would be worthwhile gettingthe Bible's definition of sin before- going into what sins really are. The Bible talks about sin being the transgression of the law. These laws are ‘ the commandments of God, the creator, given to man-through Moses on Mount Sinai. Moreover, it is evident from the Bible that so many other human acts which are sins are not categorically stated in the laws. One might therefore ask if that means the Bible is not complete? The ansWer is NO. The Holy Bible is complete. The Bible gave a clear definition of what sin is. 'In I John 5:17, the Bible says "All unright— eousness is sin." Note the three letter word "all". Thus anything unrighteous is sin. This includes the transgression of the laws; the unrighteous human acts; and whatever your mind can'think of as being unrighteous. Now that we have analysed what sin is, it is worthwhile looking into what results it has and what the consequences are. Sin is destructive. What God recognises as being death is the eternal separation between man and God, his creator. God has not at anytime and will not have any communiOn with sin. God hates sin to the utmost, but the sinner himselszod loves with a measure that could not be expressed. ,’ Godfs love is eternal. Despite the fact that I men have wronged God, He makes a way of escape from death for us. Everlasting life, escape from the,wrath of God which is coming. upon this sinful world, and everlasting joy and peace, are the will of God for you. Friend, God loves you. Christ died for your sins. You don't need to pay the penalty because it has already been paid for you. ,Why should you die? Why should you allow the wrath of God to fall on you when God has prepared the way of ~ escape? All that-God requires of you is to believe and turn over your life to Jesus Christ. Recognise yourself as a sinner worthy of death according to God's standard, and then repent of your sins which means ' confess them, and turn away from them. Tell God you are sorry. Accept Christ's finished work.
