Naturalists from across the coun- try will gather August 24 — Bl at the University of Hinnipeg under the lively theme of “Eaton our good nature“- The progr* will feature fourteen Speakers who Will help delegates become acquaint- ed with as many as possible of the province's communities. A special Manitoba nature art show and numerous field trips have also been sched— uled. Organizers intend to take full advantage of Manitoba's favoured location clOSe to some of the best birding marshes on the continent, including the Delta and Oak Hammock marshes- Other outdoor attractions of the area include the Canadian Shield, the Spruce Woods sand dunes, a block of undisturbed long-grass prairie, “ and a tract of aspen — oak forest. However, the major field trip will be a four—day nature cruise up lake Linnipeg on the luxury ship the M3 lord Selkirk II. Following the annual general meetina of the NHS on January 8, members enjoyed a pictorial review of the Society’s activities since its founding ten years ago. Presented by Margaret Mallett, the evening’s slides brought back many happy memories of field trips and activities held over the years. HOPE SEEKS OLD NEWSPAPERS. The HOPE environ- mental group is looking for old newspapers and magazines to be used in its paper recycling project. Papers will be shredded and treated chemically before being used to make insulation.
