AN Mm Prof.Robin Neal U.P.E.I. Ch'town,P.E.I. Dear Sir: It is with a great deal of embarrasment that I writ —e you this letter of apol- ogy and explanation for an article which was published in the 3an.lS edition of the Cadre concerning the suggested 11% wage increase for the U.P.E.I. Faculty. At the time, I believed that I was right in the say -ing that this was a "deman -d" of the faculty and that you were the cause of it. However, after hearing your explanation of the sit -uation on " Island Gezett e", I realized that it was I who was wrong and that my accusations were premature. I now understand that you are the Faculty Association '3 spokesman and not a par —allel with the leader of a Union, and that your "de— mand", as I put it was mere '—1y a suggested working fig' —ure for a basis of discus —sion with the administrat- ion. I would like to further point out that_I did attemp -t to interview you but eac —h time I went to your of— fice, you were not in. Also since all articles had to b —e completed by Tuesday at: ternoon in order to be sent to the publishers on time,I was forced/or so I thought to write the article myself The Coffee Shop Contest is to be continued this sem- ester: The following are the contest rules: 1. DEVELOP MENT OF THE FEDERAL GOVE R N ME’NT PLAN AND THE A JOINT PROJECT OPEI students, faculty and adr -istration.Unfortunately this did not come about But there is one point which needs clarfication. This concerns the Front nan —e of the Cadre in which it appears that the faculty of U.P.E.I. is being dipicted as a monster. This was cer- tainly not the intention of the editorial board. _ What was intended as a "Poke in the ribs" turned out to be an apparen -t "Kick in the teeth". we did not wish this to be. we only hoped it would relieve some of the tension between CONTEST 4.
