how prosperous it is; how loyal it is.
The Great War Veterans’ Association, which has
, charge of the preparations and of the program, are spar-
ling neither pains nor expense to make the demonstration
\vorth_v of the Prince and of the City. It is the dutv of
all the citizens to aid them in every possible way, not by
selfish enjoyment of the “show” but by making it a real,
live, up-to-date demonstiatioii.. The route of march to

We have in Charlottetown an elaborate set of rogu-
_flations forthe guidance of automobile and other driver.-2
-and for the safcguardiiig of our citizens. These regula-
ltions are practically a dead letter, so far as o_bsei'van<:e
iis concerned They are all being violated persistently
land flagrantly. The regulations specify that “vehicles
lrequiring to turn or slow up shall give visible and audible,
.warniiig." We presume this includes turning a strcc-'._»
lcorner. Nosuch visible or audible warning is ever giv- l
gen. Few give audible warning or even slow up onap-
lproaching a corner or a crossing. The regulations say
lnothing about speed restrictions and there are undoubt-
edly too many speed fiends. Although the regttlations
provide that “vehicles shall stop when signalled to do so
by a constable,” we have not heard of any being so or-
dered, although a speed of 35 to 40 miles is by no means
uncommon. _
The City by-laws provide a penalty of fifty dollars
for violation of any one of tire lnany regulations laid
down. If this part of the by-laws were enforced a weck`s
harvest at the police court would make a very substantial
addition to the city revenue.
