THE CADRE @ 16 Canada Pageants searching for next Charlottetown Queen A once ina lifetime opportunity is being offered to Charlottetown residents. The search is on for titleholders to represent their city at the National Canada Pageants gala affair. One candidate from each city or town throughout Canada will be selected. The local winner will become an ambassador for her area participating in local fall fairs, expos, parades, and other community events in her crown and sash. She then moves onto the national pageant which takes place in London, Ontario at the Wolf Performance Hall. Canada Pageant Corporation offers women with opportunities for career advancement, networking, media exposure, and personal development. The fact that the competition is open to ages 7-56, — makes this system very unique. Miss Teen Canada Scholarship is open to teens ages 13-19. Miss Canada Scholarship is open to women over 20 years of age. Mrs. Canada is open to married women, ages 21-56. The Canada Pageants’ system showcases the accomplishments of women and their commitment to community, family, education, and career. The Canadian winners go onto the Miss Teen, Miss, and Mrs. International competition in Chicago in July 2005. Last year the pageant opened its doors to pre-teens with the Miss Preteen Canada competition for girls ages 7-12. With a remarkable twist, the preteen competition calls for KIDS to be KIDS with a no make-up rule. Canada Pageants is not a conventional pageant system based on beauty, as 40- 50% of the total score is determined by interview about personal platform. Most contestants are not models and have no previous pageant experience featuring its’ well known slogan “ordinary girls doing extra-ordinary things”. Last year, Canada Pageants awarded over $100,000 in scholarships and prizes. Eighty-six women competed from across Canada and performed for a SOLD OUT crowd for both the Preliminaries and Finals. They enjoyed limousine transportation, red carpets, a press conference, autograph signings and more. In the two years that Canada Pageants Corporation has produced the pageants, it has had countless success stories. Miss Teen Canada 2002 was. offered a one year position at Walt Disney World and became the National Spokesperson for MADD (Mothers Against Drinking and Driving), Miss Teen Canada 2004 was on the cover of Cocoa Magazine, Miss Teen Toronto 2003 has published a book about her platform, and the reigning Miss Canada Scholarship has launched a nation wide speaking tour about Violence Prevention for Teens.
