duty, which through your kindness I am
called upon to perform, I renret has rot
falleuinio more capable hands, but in ac-
cepting it I feel conildent of the sympathy
and support of all the members present.
I welcome you one and all to this the
tenth annual session of our. High Court.
Many of you I have had the privilege and
pleasure of meeting iorf years in these
annual gather ings, While someof you are
present at the High _Ccuit for the first
time. To each and all I look for assis-
tance in making this meetirg not o:;ly
pleasant to ourselves but profitable to
our beloved order as well. _
We meet today in the capital of King’s
County. the well known winter por: of
Prince Edward§Island. Since the institut~
ing of this High Court ten years ago, it
has convened in almost all the principal
places in our province, Yrom the lar west
to the extreme east. While we have all
been glad to meet with our brethren in
these diiferent locations, still the amount
of travel necessary when holding our
meetings at such extreme points has been
more or less a drain on our ilnances, and

was our late brother the Hon. D., Farqu-R
harsoc. Tivo years ago, at a meeting of
the' H. Court we hai the pleasure of
witne-sing ite initiation of the Hon. D.
Farquharsor, prem'er of this province,
by our worthy Bio. A. W. McRae, Past
H. C. Ranger, of N. B. Bro. Farquhareon
_ during the short time he was connected
with the Order tock a deep interest in
Forestry, and was always ready to do
every thing in his power to advance its
infer: sts, as evidenced by his' bequest to
Court Avondale, with which he was con-
nected.
I think we cannot but be encouraged by
the progress made by our _Order since
the instituting of our High Court ten
years ago. At that time we had only 18
Courts with a membership of 468. Toi! y
we have 43 Ccuris and nearly 20!!! mem-
bers, being an increase of 25 Courts and
over 1500 members. The growth of the
whole Order, too, during the past ten
years has been remarkable. On the first
of July, 1893. the total membership was
50,847, and on the first of July, 1iIl3, the
membership was about 215,00) while the
surplus increased from $745,972 M, in July
1&3. to $6,663,165.77 on July lst 1913.
Truly we may _say that Forestry is boom-
ing.
I did not visit as many of our subordin-
ate Courts asI would have wished,partly
owing to press of business and partly to a'
desire to husband the finances of thc
High Court more particularly as aregular
organizer was already in the iield.
