tion of Frederick Delano by the at-

the witness was examined by Mr.

ing to do with the work of the boat-‘

Here Mr. Matheson questioned the
witness on the events preceding the
fight on the wharf. and on the fight
itself. when at 9.45 he saw Posselt
on the saloon deck the latter asked
him for the day off. Anti mentioned
nothing about leaving the ship.
Dougall Flfleld, <sworn\, stated
that he knew Rodcriques, who was
a good scaman. Regarding Antl's
confession he stated that they hadl
not made any threats nor offered
any inducements to gain a confes-
sion. He stated that the boatswain

that he did not see them again till
the time that he was standing on
the saloon deck with the second cif-
ficer, when the men passed goinr

two inches behirld his right car.

Matheson ihe witness stated that
the boatswaln was about twelve feet
from the prisoner when the latter
wassitting on the rail. When the
boatswain came down he reached
over the rail and "made a swipe" at
his antagonist. The witness had nev-
er noticed the prisoners together.
Referring to the fight on the wharf
Mr. Small stated that eftcr the knife
was drawn Anti ran away. but UV!
witness could not state whether he
had been stabbed or not. I-lc could
have been struck in the waist.
It was decided by the attorney-
general and the Counsel for the ac-
cused that the evidence taken in the
case of Anti, as far as it is applicable,
to the accused Posselt, be allowed.

last amount $1,200,000 is allocated to
the new Confederation block. now
approaching completion while $1.500,-
000 will go towards the construction
of the National Research Labora-
tory.
Public works estimates were com-
pleted, and ihe House began consid-
eration of those of the Department
of Labor. Hon. Peter 1-leenan, en-
countered some criticism directed at
his personal expenses. I-le informed
the House that he had travelled 44,-
000 mllee last year. and his travelling
