Failure to do so will result in the notation “Did Not Write” (DNW) on the student’s transcript. The department will normally require the writing of a special examination in the case of an examination which was missed. For explanations of sickness, a doctor’s certificate may be re- quired. A fee of $5 per examination is normally charged. Special Examinations are permitted only under exceptional cir- cumstances. Application forms must be completed at th Regis- trar’s Office and approved by the departments concerned. 2) Re-Reading of Examinations Application to have any paper re-read must be made to the Registrar within one month after recording of the results. Such an application must be supported by a substantial reason in writing. A fee of $5 must be paid befo e any paper is re-read. If the re- sult of the re-reading is a raising of the grade, the fee will be re- turned to the student. Students who intend to appeal a course grade are cautioned that failing grades have been checked very carefully and, barring a clerical error, appeals seldom result in higher grades. 3) Incomplete Subjects Student who fail to complete all the requirements of a course - due to circumstances beyond their control (such as illness) may, with the permission of the Professor, Chairman, and Dean, be granted an amount of time deemed reasonable for completion of said course. Permission must be in writing and must be received in the Registrar’s Office prior to the recording of final grades. If a student does not complete the requirements of a course within the agreed-upon time, a grade of FNS will replace the INC. Intent The grade will replace INC on the transcript. If a student already has a passing grade without completing the work and fails to complete the work by the agreed-upon date, the passing mark shall be submitted and recorded in place of the INC.
