Canadian “Youth Education Excellence” Prize The Canadian “‘Youth Edu- cation Excellence” Prize is a con- ference involving Canadian youth chosen from all over Canada where a one province’s candidate is named the Educator of the Year. Ten new people are cho- sen each year from each province to present their candidate. If you are a student (full or part time) attending UPEI, Holland College or High School, you have the op- portunity to be one of these del- egates. All you have to do is contact me, Carol Ann Clements, and I will submit your name along with all the others entered. If selected: - You will be asked to raise $500.00 dollars. — You will be involved in the researching of prominent profes- sors and teacher from all over Prince Edward Island that you think would be good candidates for the educator of the Year (only one will be selected). — You will be able to attend the 3rd annual Canadian “Youth Education Excellence” Prize in Quebec City on Marh 22-29, 1990. I can be reached at: Carol Ann Clements 222 Fitzroy Street Charlottetown, PEI C1A 1S7 or 892-2485 Apply in writing or by phone. Applicants will be chosen by October 31, so apply immieui- ately! Role—player List to be Formed Due to the large number of role—players, we would like .to compile a listing of all players and gamemasters. We are asking all role—players to send their name, number, whether or not you will run a game, and games they enjoy playing/mastering to the GEM account via VaxMail or to the office. When this list has been compiled, we would like to make available a copy to each member of the listing. This should make things easier for all gamemasters as they will now have a listing of all the players available on cam- pus for the game they wish to run. UPEI Gaming Society. The Un-Reality Postulate The question has arisen that perhaps we exist, and then again, maybe we don’t. The basic prob- lem, as I see it, is to prove that we exist, since I feel that we do (with the possible exception of politicians, who are more than likely just figments of our collec- tive imaginations) and would like to know for sure. With this, we state the theorem as follows: Reality exists, with the under- standing that we are seen as be- ing in reality. (This will be left to be proved in a later theorem.) Now, we go on to the proof. We will use contradiction to try to prove that reality does not ex- ist. We ask the basic question of what reality is. Reality, for all in- tensive purposes, is at the discre- tion of each person, who then in- terprets reality differently. This . implies that reality belongs to the set of all people’s perceptions. This set is infinite since there is no upper bound to any person’s perception (as can be seen by people who jump off buildings be- lieving they can fly) and there is no lower bound to any person’s perceptions of reality (as can be seen by pizza delivery people). We will call the set of all peo- ple’s perceptions of reality Real- ity (big R reality), denoted by the symbol R, and reality as seen by one person is reality as denoted by the symbol r (small r reality). Now we must prove that R exists. Let us have an element s, which is a person’s sanity. Since each person has a_ different amount of sanity, then there is a set S, which is a set of all peo- ple’s sanity, where s is a subset of S. Now S is infinite, because it, too, has no upper bound (at this time there don’t seem to be any examples, but according to Len’s Theory of Time-Space Sanity, for every sane person, there is a per- son who is more sane than that person, in other words, for ev- ery s sub n, there exists an s sub (n+1). We already know that s sub 1 is true, so by induction, this is true for n¥=1) and it has no lower bound (as can be seen by the large number of keystone kops currently working on campus). Now then, S is directly pro- portional to R since a person’s perception of reality is directly re- lated to their sanity plus a con- stant, let us call it C. The graph of (s,r) for all s as a subset of S and all r as a subset of R is a lin- early increasing graph. By taking the log of this graph, we have a flat line, which means death, which is equiva- lent to the absolute value of c, which is light speed. Since noth- ing can attain light speed, the log of the graph previously men- tioned, whose value is death, can- not exist. Therefore, the above relationship (S,R) does not ex- ist, which means that we have proved the contradiction, (ie. Re- ality does not exist) is tr...
