LIBERAL RALLY MEETING

A Complete Conservative Triumph (By Telephone to Tue Examiyen.)

Never before were the plans of a schem ing politician more entirely reversed than were those of Mr. Peters in respect to Tignish, In his grand car he arrived at

lignish and was received witk hisses and groans. An outdoor meeting (joint) was held, Mr. McCarthy in the chair. Mr.

Peters recited his manifesto amid many interruptions and pointed remarks. The Liberals present were for the most part cold and sullen. Mr, Peters continued his speech for an hour, and retired for Mr. Hackett without a single cheer.

Mr. Hackett then gave him and _ bis policy the most terrible castigation ever administered to a public man in the Pro- vince. Mr. Peterssaw his mistake and retired to the car. No Liberal, though all the candidates were called, would take the platform. Mr. Birch made a telling speech, and the meeting concluded amid enthusiastic cheersfor Hackett and Birch, aod the Lib- eral rally turned out’a eplendid Conserva- tive demonstration. The people’s party is wild with delight, and we venture to assert that it will be @ long time ere Mr. Peters revisits Tignish on a similar mission.
