"High Plains Drifter" tours to Charlottetown

High } Plains Drifter i isa world-beat, funk, jazz and reggae group made up of jazz students who met at St. FX. University. Touring to Charlottetown for the first time, High Plains Drifter fea- tures Jdawg (guitarist from Cape Breton's Aaron MacDonald Band) on guitar and vocals and The Dazzler (of Saint John's Sobeit) on keyboards, Carlochie (of Alberta's Otis) on bass, Nickulus on saxo- phones and Hashley on percussion. "We really feel off the energy of the crowd," says guitarist Jdawg, "We're exploring a 70's acid jazz and funk sound right now that has this irresistible quality. We're excit- ed to play in PEI for the first time, I think that people will dig it."

High Plains Drifter is one of the most exciting new Nova Scotia based groups performing across Atlantic Canada. High Plains Drifter has shared the stage with Hot Toddy, The Jimmy Swift Band, Grand Theft Bus, Luther Wright and the Wrongs, The Burt Neilson Band and Afromusica. High Plains Drifter have per- formed at The Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival, The Spring Shaker, The Evolve Music and Awareness Festival and venues across Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. They have recently complete work on their sophomore debut CD to be release this fall, to be released to campus radio.
