Pirrspurc, Pa, Sept. 20. — District meetings of the Amalgamated Association were held on Tuesdayin this city and Wheeling, and at Youngstown, Ohio, at which it was decided tv withdraw a!l de- mands made June Ist, and present the cld scale to manufacturers for their signatures. DIED,
At New Glasgow, on Friday, the 8th inst., after a painiul illness, which he bore with exemplary patience, Jobn McInnis, in the 46th year of his age, leaving a disconsolate widow and five children to mourn tibeir irre- parable loss. The deceased was a native of Inverness County, Scotland, and emigrated to America in the year 1847. After a residence of eight years in the United States, he came to this Island and settled at New Glasgow, where he resided up to the time of his death. Of a benevolent and obliging disposition, he was ever ready to extend a helping hand to | the needy and afflicted, and was greatly be- ‘loved and respected by all who had the | pleasure of his acquaintance. In public affairs jhe took a deep and intelligent interest, and 'the Church and “tate owed much to his | liberality and support. He was a consistent {member of the Catholic Church, and died | trusting in the merits of his Redeemer.
