l Summerside struck for five runs in the second inning and played heads up defensive ball the rest of the way as they defeated the Dodg- ers 6-4 in an inhibition baseball game at Memorial Field yesterday afternoon.

The Summcrsidei batters came up with three base hits and four free passes to first base to ccount for their five runs. Neil Walker opened the inning with I walk and Grant Grady followed with I don- ble. Joe Dalton than doubled both runners across the plate.

Summerside kept the rally going as Johnny Whelan. Garth Harris and Gallant drew walks to force Joe Dalton home wtih the visitors third run. Ed Dalton then lashed a single to score Whelan and Harris.

Ed Dalton completed the Sum- inerslde scoring as he belted a home run in the seventh inning with the bases empty. The Dalton brothers drove in five of the visit- ors six runs with J oc sending home two runs and Ed three.

Don Cockell Hangs Up Gloves

LONDON (Reuters) - British heavyweight Don Cockell. black- smith turned boxer. hung up his gloves Sunday to take up I full- time tussle with his prospering Sussex farm. The 27-year-old British cham- pion and former empire titleholder announced his retirement. He was slated to, appear before the Brit- ish board of control here on Wed- nesday for a meeting to discuss his ring future.

Cockell began to slide when he lost his championship fight with world champion Rocky Marciano at San Francisco iii May, 1955. Marciano hopped the Briton CJWI1 in the fifth round.

LOST LAST FIGHTS

He also has lost his only two fights since then.

He was forced to retire in the third round of a contest with Nino Vaides of Cuba in London last September.

Then Kitione Lave of Tonga beat Cockell in the second round of a non-title fight here last April. A week later Cockell was deprived of his empire title by the board's empire Lliual pionship committee.

He should have appeared be fore the boxing board last month but was granted an adjournment pending a medical report. Cockell said soon after the postponement that the report was "very favor- able."
