beon discovered at Nimes. It is over 150 square feet in size, aod represents a emperor seated on a throne, by the side
of which stands a female figure. There are also two figures of men,leading the

There was a strong expression in the Lendon West School Board the other night, against sending childrea under
seven years of age to school. The legal schoo! age is five years. A great
deal has been heard in regard to the hard lot of children in factories, and parents are condemned for sen ling their offspring te work for wages under the age of fourteen yeurs. Yet very little is said for the poor little infants of five or six years, who have tq go to school, and to many of whom the study of books isas great a hardship asa long day’s manual labor toa grown lad. Ino many cases babies are seat to sehool, tobe got rid of, without any idea ol their learning anything, thus taking up the roem which larger childern and real students'are entitled to. For such young persons there ought to be a special school on the kindergarten plan, where they would be under a nurse,and the romp and play. which is natural and ne -essary to them, might be varied by simple object lessons, which are found to be more impressive to the in- fantile mind, than a, b, c’s and ab ab’s.

Our Blood Vessels.
Receot investigations show that the blood vessels of a human being capable of performing his daily avoeations may contain from 20,000 to 30,000 miaute embryo nematoid worms. A physieian at Calcutta demonstrated this with gre- gard to persons in that climate. Num- bers of individuals so affected sufferer from chyluriaor elephantiasis, in one or other of its forms; but this is by no means universally the case. Research- es have also revealed the curious fact these teeming multitudes of nematoids lurk in some unknewn recesses of the vascular system during the daytime,and that only as night approaches do they wander at large through the vessal generally. Experts say that a singie drop of blood taken from a prick of the fiager at midnight in a person so affect- ed may contain as many as 500 embryo nematoids, while many drops similarly obtained at mid-day willnot reveal a single worm.

Strange Sounds in the Air. ATMOSPHERE PHENOMENA IN WAYNE.
Oo Saturday the 11th, between nine and eleven o’cloek, there were heard unusual noises in the atmosphere at Wayne, Me. They were first noticed at half-past nine o’clock and re- sembled the noise produced by the fal- ling of a pile of boards followed by a report like the rapid discharge of a
istol near by. Then the noise seemed ike distant artillery, the various sounds following one another at short intervals. Later there were less frequent and more indistinct,except two reports very much like musket shots, not far distant. Scin- tillations were observable by somein the clouds, or thick illaminated haze which moved rapidly accross the moon for the west. Sounds like rockets whizzing through the air were heard. These phenomena were observed by several persons, Was it an eclectric storm ?
