Sometimes. however, an answer comes to us in terms of the jus- tice of God. God is merciful but He is also Just. We forget all too easily how monstrous is our in- gratitude toward God when we trangress His commands. In fact.

certain times in our lives God shows us His mercy and at other times exacts justice. We must not think this. because every one of God's actions towards us is fundamentally an act of mercy.

Out of pure generosity. God created us. and created us in such a way that we have an op- portunity to be generous with Him in return. If He allows us to fall and to hurt ourselves, it is because He has made us in His image and likeness. endowed us with intelligence and freedom.
