feminist. After all, females ARE perfectly capable of opening their own doors, but that is not to say that we must eliminate friendly gestures that are done without expectations of being paid back. If there’s one thing that drives me nuts, it is MS. Feminist, who REFUSES to allow men to open doors for her, Stating flatly that she can do it herself.

I am not saying that it is a man’s responsibility to open doors for females. In fact, I don’t think gender

is the question at all. Ideally, what I would really -

like to happen is for my mate to be considerate towards me, not because of my extra X chromosome, but simply in the name of common courtesy. Of course; I would attempt to be equally courteous in return. ;

For reasons not pertaining in any way to doors, Mr. Idiot is no longer named Jeff. The present Mr. Idiot is a VERY equality-minded person. Get this: he intends to take on MY surname if (when?) we marry. You guessed it, the thought of opening a door for a member of the female sex is totally beyond his realm of thought. A few years ago, I wouldn’t have minded, or even noticed that Mr. Idiot has a habit of going through a door and then slamming it behind him, right in my face. But it is too late now. Jennifer and Jeff (I and II) have done their damage. I must admit that I, the feminist, miss my doorman.

I have not spoken about this matter to the new- and-improved Mr. Idiot, but as we both struggle to get through the doorway at the same time, I secretly hope that maybe, just maybe, next time there won’t be any cause for us getting stuck in a doorway together. That is, if he holds it for me, or if one of us gets there before the other. Most likely, it will be the latter that will occur. Sigh.

Note: Although this babble was based on fact, names have been changed to avoid embarrassing anyone to death. Also, like I already said, this piece was written sometime ago. If anyone really cares, the situation has changed yet again, and the present Mr. Wonderful-in-my-life ALWAYS opens doors for me.

In reply to your editorial, no one goes to church because we no longer need a superior being to explain our universe, and because of Jim & Tammy Baker, Swaggart, and those priests in NFLD who did terrible things to little boys, people have lost faith in the church. As I said before we now have science to accout for things such as how the universe began, people are beginning to realize God was an explanation. Man created God, but no

longer need him. However many. many many people would disagree, this is one persons opinion.

Dear Editor:

First of all, my compliments to you on the excellent job you are doing with this years edition of the student newspaper. After my initial reluctance, I now enjoy the new format and look forward to its publication each week. The new sections are interesting, mature and tastefully done.

Of course, with this praise I have a few criticisms that I feel are of a constructive nature. First and foremost, although I agree with previous comments that our newspaper should be an academic publication, I miss the lighter articles and sections like "Five Lines Free" and "Campus Comment". It’s fine to start fresh with a clean slate, but with the exclusion of known favorites, is it so great? |

In addition, I feel there is a definite lack of photographs in the new publication. As students, we spend our days gazing at the printed pages of textbooks. I look to the campus newspaper for a

refreshing break and get turned off when I see pages upon pages of printed articles, I understand you have a paid photographer equiped with a great
