Sue's rebuttal
Dear Editor:
Upon reading your editorial in the- Mardi 26th issue of the Sun, I was both appalled and dis-
appointed in your commenm.
I feel that these comments w'ere both unfactual and totally uncalled for.
For someone who‘ spends perhaps an hour, if that, a week at The Barn, you have made generalizations of me, as well as the 1 other executive members and council that are unfitting.
Vice—President is not a public relations posi— tion, as is the job of
‘President. I do a lot more behind doors than the public sometimes realize. for sub-organizations of, the Student Union. I deal with people and their personalities rather
than figures or outside governing bodies. My
"job description", which
I feel I have fulfilled includes; Yearbook, sub— organizations, social committee, Winter Carnival, Fall Fest, Student Senator v Acting President in his absence (which I did through Orientation) and the Sun. At this point
I would like to note that, it is not my duty to serve (with the exception of
~ Senate) on all these committees, but rather to oversee each and make sure

Even you 1V5. Hartman have made mistakes. This is not to say we the executive are perfect and have made no mistakes, but the impor- tant thing is that we have learned by them.
At this moment I feel very frustrated because I am entering a new mandate as Vice-President Internal.
If as you say I have done nothing then I must have done an excellent job of "pulling the wool over peo- ple's eyes". If this is the only think I have achieved in the last year it is a sad thing. "You can fool ' some of the people some of - the time", but I am sure I have not fooled all of the

Ms. Hartman. Council has taken on some very touchy issues and have handled them quite well. If we" spent all our time talking about issues Such as El. Salvador, Seal Hunts,
Irish problem etc. at
each Council meeting we mould have no time to dis— cuss issues that may involve the student. After all, we were elected to work for the students of UPEI, not made statements about political issues because they vary from person to person.
In closing I would. like to say I believe in freedom of the press, so long as facts are Straight and not distorted. I feel in my case that the facts were untrue and that it was uncalled for. This is by no means a stab at my « peers, but rather without themI couldn't have done as V.P. this year at UPEI My best to them and to you as well, Ms. Hartman.
