The regular season came to a close for two very successful Panther rugby teams. The A division team and their three game winning streak came to a halt two weeks ago when Mount Allison edged them out 21-20. Ian Johnson (1), Dwayne Gilks (1), and Jeff Dand (1) scored tries while Richie Mitchell completed two conversions. The B division team pulled in another win for the season with Darcy Kirwin (2), Jeff Thompson (1), Beezer MacDonald (1) scoring tries while Darcy Campbell completed a conversion for the B division team ina 22-20 win against Mount A. The last of the regular season games in New Brunswick had mixed results. The A division side played UNB and won 27-17. Those who scored tries for the A side were: Ian Johnson (1), Jesse Norcott (2). Richie Mitchell completed 3 conversions, and 2 penalty kicks. The B team lost for the first time this season to UNB Saint John, 17-0. The A side finished the season with 4 wins and 2 losses, while the B team had 4 wins, a tie, and | loss.

The New _ Brunswick University league rugby finals are this weekend in Fredericton, and both teams are definite contenders. The winners of the New Brunswick league play the winner of the Nova Scotia university rugby league. The finals. for the Maritimes are in Nova Scotia, November 2nd. The women's rugby team for UPEI will also be in Nova Scotia the weekend of November 2nd for the women's finals. Good Luck too all the Rugby Teams!

Week in Review

The Five Year Plan recorded their first regular season win as_ they

defeated the Maulers by a

score of 78 to 54. This spectacular victory was due to a strong offensive effort by Geoff Smith. Mr. Smith had a season high of 32 points. Dico Reyers, playing purely on raw desire and utter exhaustion, also had a strong offensive game.

On the defensive end, Pat Perry, Dale Tingley, and Rick Mallard provided strong opposition to the Maulers, blocking and stealing everything within their grasp.

In other FYP news, the mysterious Mr. Hands was named head coach of the team. However, Mr. Hands could not be found for comment. Acting team spokesman, Dave Christian commented “We are pleased to have Mr. Hands leading our team into glory this season. I’ve been a great admirer of his coaching abilities since I was a small child.”
