The poor little fellow almost broke its neck'.‘ Upon hearing this news I apol ized to the vet tel— ling that I honestly did not know that animal exercise was so pervasive in town. The vet gave me some prescriptions for sedatives in order to keep Scruffy docile and reduce the risk of his getting injured trying to work off excess cellulite. I know its going to be tough to kick Scruff of this ex- ercise kick but I now realize that it is in his own best interests that

he be kept fat and happy the weepihis born days._

one of his noon hour snooz— es, but on closer inspection it was clear he was in trouble. I proceeded to cart Scruffy off the the vet to check what might

be wrong with him. I waited with him at the clinic for what seaned like about three months. Final- ly the vet allowed us an audience with him to check out what had happened.

The vet very carefully in—

spected him and after a few ‘ minutes a look of total

horror came over his

face. The vet looked at me and said,"Sir your

dog pulled his ligament,

he's been jogging hasn't he?"

"Jogging? Whatever are you

talking about',‘ I asked.

"you, suburbanites are all

the same, you get your

animals to exercise and

then deny it when I have

to patch then up, " he ex—

ploded. It soon became very

clear to me that this was

one bitter vet. I told

him I knew nothing about

animals being exercised

by their owners.
