Sin,—I have frequently been avked privately, by temperance peopl, why I did not join some temperance Loly to show I was a true Christian man. I have given these individuals my answer and some of them said they were satisfied, but they have at the eame time expressed doubts whether I could be considered a true Christan man except | came ont more publicly, Some of there have lately a-ked me to give my views to the public through some of the city papers on tem- pernce and also on the Scott Act. The times are laden with golden oppor- tunities for, and woeful dangers to, the cause Of temperance; and it behooves men and women everywhere to be in real aod active earnest in promoting temperance and denouncing the liquor traffic.

Charlottetown holds the key of sobriety or drunkenness for this Province. The Scott Act election, to be held July 22nd decides which door will be opened—whether Island will flow a stream of good or one of damn:

Spence, of Toronto, in writing, says it will be a great calamity to the temperance cause if the Scott Act is defeated in Charlottetown. Now then, in view of these things, we ask for your sympathy and financial aid. May God give us all wisdom and power to fight and maintain His cause.
