Snow Business" and U.P.E.I. students are out to prove that the cold, white months of winter can be the great- est part of the year — if you know how to handle them. Winter carnival '78, the most gala of all events at the university, is blowing our way and promises to hit with a full blizzard of : races, sports, dances, parties, assorted riotous events, and a few less important things as well. Winter Carnival ' 78 chair— man, Gerald McKenna, and his committee of more than twenty helpers have organ— ized a full week of celebra- tions that will make the ‘famous Quebec Carnival: look stormed-out by com- parison.

Everything gets started with a flurry of activity on Sunday, Jan. 22 when the snow-sculpting starts (with a bit of luck) . In— tramural sports occupy a good deal of time Sunday afternoon and continue Mon— day, finishing on Tuesday. tournaments, men's and women's basketball, a hockey game that pits the Panthers against Mt. Allison, a Bash in the gym featuring "Tracks", and the second suicide skate for the survivors of the first. Ch Sunday the Carnival ends with an avalanche of good times. A bus will leave for Brook- vale Ski Park at 9 a.m. and will return at 4:30 p.m. Any- body who enjoys cross—com- try or downhill skiing, or tobogganing will be looking forward to this. The final Carnival event is the Campus Cabaret at Confederation. cen- tre theatre on Sunday night.
