At some point, their watches (not mine) read 7:50. It was time to say goodbye. The handshakes, the hugs and all. We had enjoyed each others’ company all day. It did not seem to be enough fun but it was for them, judging from their vote of thanks.

In the end what mattered to me was that our guests had enjoyed their visit. Every one of them was ‘*‘beaming’’ with satisfaction. I don’t know about other members of our association who participated in the day’s activities, but 1am convinced that we were better hosts and hostesses that I thought we were before last Saturday.

We wish to express our appreciation to all who in diverse ways assisted us into being the great hosts and hostesses that we were on Saturday.

There will be a meeting of the International Students Assciation on Friday, Sept 27,1991 at 7:00 in the Dalton Hall Dining Room. This will be our first meeting but the venue should give you some idea of what else we are up to.

Our agenda includes Approval of Constitution Nomi- nation and Election of offices Any other business

Party.

Please note that this is an International Party. We’ll expect that we bring along a traditional dish from your home country. We will accept burgers and fries from our Canadian colleagues only. HA! HA! You may also bring a friend.

The UPEI Debating Society can help you out in several ways. You can learn how to speak in public with composure and confidence. You can learn how to develop convincing arguments on the spot. You can learn how to think clearly and express yourself under pressure, You can learn how to think cntically and logically. You can build self-confidence. All this and more you can have with a little time and effort. We don’t do miracles, but our members report extremely positive benefits from practice in debating (and a few near-miracles). On top of all this, debating is a lot of fun, you get to meet new people, and you have an opportunity for travel.
