I IN MEMORIAM

MRS. WM. E. JOHNSTONE

Friends andw neighbors were saddened to hear of the passing of Mrs. William E. Johnstone on September 26 at her home in Long River. She was fifty-six years of age and had been in failing health for just over a year.

Mrs. Johnstone was the for- mer Annie Maria Stavert, R.N., of North Bedeque, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Archibald Stavert. She attended school in North Bedeque and then trained as a nurse in the Prince County Hospital, Summerside. She graduated in 1927 and was for three years on the staff of the Colchester County Hospital in Truro, Nova Scotia. ,

In 1930 she came as a‘ bride to Long River where she was dearly loved and will‘be sadly missed. Besides a sorrowihg husband and mlother-in-law she leaves to mourn an adopted daughter Betty, Mrs. Lorne Ramsay, Hamilton, P.E.I., and a stepson, Arthur, of Summer- side. There are four grandchild- ren. She leaveS also a sister Lil- lian. Mrs. James A. Con-hell. Summerside, another 5 i s t e 1' Myrtle and a brother Wilbur on the home in North Bedeque. In- fant twin daughters predeceas- ed her.

The funeral service. which was largely attended, was held in Monday, September 29. Fu- eral arrangements were under he direction of J. L. Davison. The service was conducted by her pastor, Rev. Waldo Elliott, assisted by Rev. Angus Brown of North Bedeque and Mr. Elmer MacLean. The hymns were “The Lord’s My Shep- herd", “Just As I Aim", and “Abide With Me". Mrs. Ernest Dunning was in charge of the music.

The pall bearers were: drew Johnstone, Elmer Mac- Leod, Edwin Bernard. Andrew Campbell, Robert Dunning, and Fred Doughamt. The flower bearers were: Ralph Thompson, Jr., Eustace Paynter, Clair MacLeod, Gerald Johnstone, and Ralph Johnston. The floral tributes were many and beauti- ful. Interment was in the Ged- die Memorial cemetery, Spring Brook.

ELMER CARR

There passed away suddenly at his home in Charlottetown on August 25th., of Elmer Carr in his 40th. year. He was the young- est son of Mrs. Annie Carr and the late Albert Carr. '

Although he had been in poor health for some time Elmer was very active (and was most happy when he was busy. A few months ago he accepted a position with F. R. MacLaine and Co., where he was employed until the day of his death. Elmer’s quiet but jg]. 1y disposition made him a flavor- Ite among his many friends and. workmates.

He leaves to mourn besides his sorrowing wife, the former Lil- lian Daurach, his mother, Mrs. Annie Carr, one brother Ernie, and one sister Doris. l

The funeral which was largely attended was held from the Sal- vation Army Citadel and was conducted by Sr. Capt. and Mrs. John Carter of Monoton. Who visited him many times during Iris‘dluess.
