For over two hours I lingered in tlmis ‘iewltchlng Paradise, with its hun- dreds of different species of the flower kingdom, while‘ Mrs. Muc- .fi1lan patiently explained to me the names and habits of each plant. To one as ignorant cs I of hortl culture, her knowledge seemed to ve"'ge on the uncanny, for she talk- ed of this flower and that as if they were children, Amongst this seemingly endless list of names I managed to remember a fcw cf the more common ones-the perennials which follow each other in season.

For instance. daffodils and tulips make their debut in May,as do also the lovely forget-me-nots. This riot of glory usually continues till the middle of June. when it grad- ual fades away. thus giving the last half of Julie and July a chuncc to display the iris, pennies, larkspur and Oricntzil poppy. August and September flaunt the hoiiyhocks. gladioii, etc, thus supplying to this garden a continuous dream-land oi blossoms that makes the place hauntingly inviting until fall frosts irig ruin and destruction,

And the roses-I must not for t to mention them, for this partiou ar plot contains some of the most beautiful ones I ever have looked on, One of these mi-e, exquisite var- ieties ls a Poiyantha named Gloria Mundi. Other species found here include: Agnes Grootendorst, Talis- man. Etciie die Holland, Countess Vandal and many more.

Around the bird bath, in the cen- ter of the lawn, smiles a. group of Madonna lillies, those delicate, fra- grant beauties which are the pride of all true-hearted horticulturists.
