Prince Fishermen Make

Off for the lobster fishing grounds with a full load of traps. anchors and buoys as the 1955 season gets underway on the. north shore: of Prince Edward Island. The above pictures were taken at Aiberton harbour at noon Saturday and show part perate from that port. The average fishing boat carries about eighty traps with a new larger type launched this year by Myrl Matthews having a capacity of 250. With clear skies and a running lines was made more pleasant than is sometimes the case and by night- fall over one half the traps had been placed in position. Practically all traps in - the Aiberton, Tignish area were set out by last evening and first reports from a small number of traps inspected indicate a good season in prospect.

-Mr. J.. A. Gallant. barrister. Summerside. was nominated as assembiyman for the Third Dis- trict of Prince at the Liberal nominating luu held in the Canadian Legion home in Sum- merside last evening.

Mr. Gallant's nomination was moved by Harold Mill and sec- onded by Archie MacGuigan.

There were no other names be- fore the convention.

Mr. Gallant will contest the Third District of Prince as as- semblyman along with the sitting member. Mr. Frank McNutt of Malpeque. as councillor. Mr. Mc- Nutt was nominated earlier.

Mr. Gallant was congratulated on his nomination by Premier A. W. Matheson who spoke highly of his work in the House, and in particular his able reply to the Speech from the Throne. 4

Death Yesterday of Aiberton Man

-The death of Albert Cahill of Aiberton occurred at the West- ern Hospital early Monday mom- ing following an illness of only two days. He was born at Kil- dare 74 years ago and lived there until he moved to Aiberton about 22 years ago. His wife predeceas- ed him l2 years ago. He is sur- vived by one daughfer. Margaret. Mrs. Amos Ramsay of Aiberton South, 10 grandchildren and four brothers. Hugh John. and Joseph of Alberton. Everett of Summer- sldc and Fred of Port Hill.

The funeral will he Wednes- day morning at 9 o'clock from the home of his brother. H. J.

work is considered by many to be a rather tiresome chore. But when you can climax your study of the poem by such an exhilarat- ing experience as a choral read- ing, the work involved is con- siderably minimized.

The young stu- dent must learn to square his shoulders. grit his teeth and re- solutely apply himself to the dis- agreeable tasks as they come up. when things were at their very worst. Columbus said. A scheduled practice was can- celled due to the rainy weather. The matter of the need of an im- proved fire alarm system was discussed and Chief Arsenault said that the matter could again be taken up with the Town Council. He felt that the council would in- stall what the firemen i ” ' on.
