They were made by vuroing sauples ot Levoe’s Brilliant Oil and ordinary Oils, and testing their illuminating power, It was found that Coal Gas costing one cent at $3 per thousand feet, gave a light equal to 18 candles, while Devoe’s Brilliant Oil consuming 27.4 granames cost- ing halfa cent, gave a light equal to 9 candles.
