Provincial Liberal Leader A. W. Matheson said Wednesday too much emphasis is being placed on parliamentary union of the Atlantic Provinces and more stress should be placed on economic union. There would be definite economic advant- ages to a union with the At- lantic Provinces. he said.

Matheson said that in the 1950's. while he was premier of this province. the matter of un- ion came up at several Atlantic premiers' conferences. “The idea at that time.“ he said. was that a number of pro- grams could be set up to save money by the governments in- volved.
