Mr. SuTHERLAND, after some preliminary remarks, referred to the financial position of the Province, contending that we were in &@ worse position than ever, notwith- standing the statements made in the speech of the Leader of the Government yesterday afternoon. The estimates for the current year were, he thcught, considerably less than the expenditure wouid be. Hon. Donato Frerausow followed. He pointed out that the payments for educa- tion amounted in 1878 to only. about $65,000—the Government of that year having paid only three-quarters salaries, while nearly $112,000 were paid on account of education last year; and humorously disposed of some cf the statements of the previous speaker, House adjourned until Monday.
