Shore is depicted in the act of haul- ing aboard an enormous codfish. or something very fat and tinny; and one can only hope tllat the line will break before the monster swamps the boat. All around the coast-line there are sportsmen similarly engaged, ill various curious attitudes and liabili- manta. for a very long time. The day after the Armistice was signed in 1018. the Canadian Government placed adver- tisements in various publications call- ing upon those who had claims toflle them. The claims were flied. to the amount of $50,000,000 or so. They were subsequently ‘examined by Gov- ernment officials and the amount was scaled dowll to between $2,000,000 and $3,000,000. To this. it u presumed. interest will be added, brlngillg_ tlke total up considerably.

The claims are against Germany for various illegal actions during the war, principally for torpedoing mer- cllllnt.sllips and destroying fishing vessels. Most. of the claims are for small amounts, nlally of them flied by persons who sustained property losses or injuries while travelling as passengers or serving as seamen on ships sunk by the Germans. These. it is expected. will be paid in full. What will be done with the larger claims. filed by the steamship com- panies, has. seemingly. not been de- cided yet.'

Germany. it is claimed, has already paid Canada, in the way of repara- tlons, a sum sumcient to meet the assessed ‘ ‘ several times over. The Canadian Government has taken the stand, however. that it is under

You have been outdoors walking or working and you go in to the table with a real zest for food.

You are not particularly fond of

tile food that happens to be on the table but yotl find yourself eating a full share of it and enJoying it too. ' At some previous time or tithes you have had that same meal sot down in front of you. and you have scarce- ly ‘ llched it.

Ordinarily then Jilly, particular food would find no favor in your eyes, and if your cycs and brain do not like a certain food. the juices of the mouth and stomach do not start to flow. and that particular food gets , a poor start on the road to digestion and absorption into the blood.

What is it then about work. about exercise, that can make your eye and brain forget; that they do not like a certain food, in fact make it actually look good to them?

Simply that work (or exercise) makes the blood use up ally unused food nuiterial, and if not needed fur- ther. carry it to the organs which. throw it off from the body-skin, lung, intestine, kidneys.

Thus the blood and tissues are ready. are actually waiting for a. sup- ply of fcod. and anything, even food ' of which you are not fond, looks good because it is actually needed. -

The lesson of course is obvious.

You will think a “bad" meal is good. if that body of yours has work- ed hard enough to need food.

Thereafter, he and his congregation. united with the congre- gation of St. Paul's Church in 1918, and for six years he was minister of the Church of St. Andrew and St. Paul, during which time he did much valued service for the church and city. and for ‘the Presbyterian cause throughout Canada. Ln i924 he re- ceived and accepted a. _call to the Parish cl‘ Govan one of the most im- portant and arduous‘ charges in the church of Scotland, having a mem- bership of over three thousand com- municants. There he has served faithfully and unremittingly for over‘ four years.
