The budget. brought down Nov. 30. estimated n. deficit of nearly $3.- ooomo from revenue of $22,300,000 and expenditure of £5,000,000. Four new taxes were announced.

Fire, stemming from an explos- ion in the engine room, destroyed the converted fairmile, Katherine G. in Soilrls Harbour about 10 o'clock Tuesday night. There were five crcw members aboard u; the outbreak but none wore injured.

The ship's gasoline tanks caught fire and exploded shortly after the fire started. It was estimated that flames huriled at least 150 feet in the air, Firemen rushed

The boat was owned ‘by ]\1r. Reginald MacDonald, Souris, and had part of a cargo of potatoes on board. The ship was being loaded with potatoes and grain for Newfoundland. She had been in port for about two days. The loss is partly covered by insur- ZITICE.

It was originally planned to be built in Moncton. but. due to water diffic- ulties was moved over here. it is 112 ft. by 30 ft., with a wing 50 ft. by 30 ft., and contains thirty- two swine pens.
