During the discussion on the eligibility for membership. Mr. Smith gave a report on a recent conference held In Ottawa. in connection With the forthcoming nation-wide drive for new mem- bers. which opens April 1. MEMBERSHIP DRIVE

In connection with the drive the speaker also showed a film on the subject. He suggest- ed that if every member was to enlist one new man the legion in P.E.I. would have no difficul- ty in reaching its objective.

Following the film and Mr. Smith's rcmarks. the delcgatcs discussion of the subject. and a number of suggestions were put forward.

Mr. Douglas reporting on the meeting he attended in Ottawa, made a number of announce— ments regarding the, legion‘s national sports program. parti- cularly in the track and field area and the effects It will have on the Atlantic area.

He announced that all branch- es in the command will soon re< ccive a circular from head- quarters, which will explain the sports program in full detail. and will also give the various branches suggestions by which they can participate fully. ATHLETIC PROMOTION

New Curling Club For Area

SOIJRIS r A new curling club has been officially formed here at a meeting Thursday night. Elected president was Camille Gallant with Henry Larter as vice-president. William Pierce. secretary and Clarence MacDon- treasurer.

Three committees were named to get the club started. and it is hoped to let the contract for the erection of the club's rink and building by June. It is expected at the chub will be able to start its first season of opera- tions in October.
